Win money for writing a book. Join the fun of friendly competition. The challenge is to finish your book(s) and be a source of encouragement to one another!

The Book Challenge collects a fee of ten dollars ($10.00) per book. By completing the book(s) you enter, you are eligible for the Book Challenge drawing at FWCW's Holiday Party. The winning name receives 50% of the fees collected. Enter up to five (5) books between January 01 and August 31. Your completed book(s) is due the week before our Holiday Party. You may submit rough drafts. Eligibility Rules for the Drawing:

You must write a minimum of 40,000 NEW words between each manuscript's entry date and the Holiday Party in December. Anthologies are eligible if the combined words in the series total a minimum of 40,000 words. There is no maximum word count.
Word counting starts the day you enter each book. (Example: if you enter “Book 1” on Jan. 19, you start counting the words written from that date until the turn-in date in December. If on May 5, you enter “Book 2,” your word count on book 2 starts May 5 until December.)
If you enter more than one book, please report the word count for each book separately, but in one email. Do not combine the word count of multiple books. You may write on multiple books at the same time.
When reporting your word count(s), the words written to develop plots, outlines, characters, research, etc. for your book should be identified separately from words written in the actual manuscript.
Words cut and pasted into your manuscript from any source may not be counted.
Email your weekly word count to FWCWbookchallenge2021@groups.io | Home on Mondays. If you miss a week, you can report your word count on the next Monday. (You must accept an invitation to join the FWCWbookchallenge2021@groups.io loop to email your word count.)
Submit your completed (beginning, middle, and end) manuscript file(s) at the end of the challenge for verification of word count to be eligible for the drawing.
