Chat with Brenda Chin

March 13, 2021

Morning Session:10 AM to noon: Pour a cup coffee and enjoy a 2 hour talk about publishing—what works, what doesn’t, how things have changed—with veteran editor Brenda Chin. Be sure to bring your questions.

Are you a newbie author or been published for a while or not yet had a title released? Got questions? Whether it’s how to fill plot holes, get past a brain block, create characters, develop scenes, or anything else, Brenda Chin will have answers for you. So bring all your questions for a two-hour Q and A with an icon of the industry.

Award-winning editor Brenda Chin has worked in the romance industry for more than 30 years.  Throughout her many years as a Senior Editor with Harlequin, she had the opportunity to work with some of the best writers in the business, including such notables as Brenda Jackson, Jill Shalvis, and Vicki Lewis Thompson. During those years, Brenda also bought 74 new authors–Carly Phillips, Stephanie Bond, Julie Kenner, Leslie Kelly and Tawny Weber, to name but a few. Many of the authors she introduced to Harlequin have gone on to hit the New York Times and USA Today bestseller lists.

After leaving Harlequin, Brenda joined Belle Books as the Editorial Director of ImaJinn Books, where she learned a whole new side to the business and had the opportunity to work with some incredibly talented authors. Then she moved on to Entangled, joining the team as the Editorial Director of Entangled’s Brazen and Scorched lines.

Now, Brenda is working primarily as a freelance editor, working with numerous Indie authors, as well as taking on projects for Belle Books, Entangled, Tule and Dreamspinner Press.

“I believe publishing is a partnership, and my job as an editor is similar to that of a coach. I will do my best to bring out the best in you and your writing, and help you create a book we can both be proud of. As for my approach, it’s fairly simple—I think that if you’re creating something that’s meant to entertain, you should enjoy the process.  We should enjoy the process,” Brenda Chin.
